The Daily Telegraph reports that an un-named source told the Daily Mirror there are plans afoot to create a Children in Need Doctor Who special - to be screened in November. It is claimed the special will contain all 11 Doctors, including Matt Smith. Children in Need have a history of producing Doctor Who specials.
The BBC have not confirmed anything only saying "Nothing has been finalised yet, although there is discussion of a Children in Need Doctor Who special. It is too early to say what"
This is obviously very much a rumour at the moment, but it could make fascinating watching if it materialises.

BBC Bosses have decided to slot the 5 part series Torchwood - Children of Earth right into BBC1, moving it from its original home of BBC2. Whether such a move is a ratings grabber is unknown but it could well open up the series to a whole new audience. Running an entire series in back to back episodes is a bold move as the show could struggle to keep viewers engaged and willing to come back night after night.
John Barrowman, aka Captain Jack Harkness, certainly seems happy with a one hit series - "I think the one storyline works perfectly for this series it's epic, it is pacy".

ITV's attempt to capture some of the Doctor Who market has been cancelled after three series. Having improved greatly over the course of it's short life, Primeval ended the third series with a pretty sizable cliffhanger which now looks unlikely to be resolved.
It appears falling viewer numbers and advertising revenue have taken their toll on the series and a last-minute attempt at funding the show through a new broadcast partner has failed leaving both the future of TV show in doubt and huge question marks over the previously announced feature film.

Following the success of their Doctor Who Up Close exhibition, it's been announced that Experience Design are making plans to launch a similar project centred around Torchwood. The company's Head Designer Martin Wilkie has announced that plans are already in an advanced stage of development, and will give visitors the opportunity to walk round and interact with a two-storey recreation of the Hub, Torchwood's base of operations.
Although a location has yet to be formally decided, it's thought that an abandoned office building in Bute Crescent, at the heart of Cardiff's Bay area, is the favoured site. Guests could enter via a recreation of the water sculpture lift characters use in the show to gain access to their base, and explore every nook and cranny from the show's set, including Captain Jack's office and Ianto's work station. Braver visitors will get to encounter a real life Weevil as well as check out various props and costumes from the series, and even, in what sounds a rather grisly idea, recreate Tosh's death scene in the autopsy room. Nice. Unsurprisingly, there are also murmurs that exhibits will include " a giant monster" from the upcoming five parter Children of Earth but they're keeping quiet about that at the moment.
Experience Design hope to have the attraction open by the summer holidays. For further information, check out news reports here and here.

Just for a little clarification - this site is currently in its early beta stages. In fact, I only even came up with the idea yesterday! Content is obviously low for now and the site is hosted on a low-powered development server on a slow connection so there may be some speed issues. Once the core functionality is in place, we'll be moving the site over to a more permanent home which will be on a high-bandwidth link and a much more powerful piece of hardware.

It has finally been officially confirmed that July's release in 2|Entertain's Classic Doctor Who series will be Patrick Troughton's epic last story, The War Games. The ten parter, the second longest single Doctor Who story ever made (discounting Trial of a Time Lord), was first broadcast in Spring 1969 and saw the Second Doctor and his companions Jamie (Frazer Hines) and Zoe (Wendy Padbury) landing on what appears to be Earth during the First World War. The three soon find that all is not as it seems, however, when they find themselves travelling between time zones, each of which is based around a different war during Earth's history. Who is controlling the time zones, and to what purpose, and can the time travellers survive long enough to get to the centre of the web? Co-written by Malcolm Hulke and Terrance Dicks, the story is famous not only as Troughton's final adventure but also as the story which finally revealed where the Doctor came from, and introduced us to his people the Time Lords, and is a more than welcome addition to the range.

Since his departure from the role of the Doctor in 1986, the fan community seems to have taken Colin Baker to its collective heart due to his unbridled enthusiasm for the show and his appearances in some excellent Big Finish audio productions. But at the time, things weren't nearly so clean cut. Some fans (including myself) loved his spiky and unpredictable take on the role, largely derived from the original performance by William Hartnell, but many others found him alienating, over-the-top and too much of a contrast to Peter Davison's more relaxed approach. Unfortunately, the general public, and more importantly the BBC hierarchy, seemed to agree with the latter view and Colin was unceremoniously replaced after two full seasons. It's true that his debut story, The Twin Dilemma, was something of a disaster and it's hard to entirely erase memories of Timelash or the campier aspects of Season 23. But I think time has been kind to Colin Baker's time in the role, and many of his shows, criticised as excessively violent and cynical at the time, look remarkably ambitious and unusual after the passage of two decades.

Karen Gillan has been revealed as the Doctor's companion when the Doctor Who returns for its fifth season in 2010. She joins Matt Smith who is taking over from David Tennant once he hands over the keys to the Tardis at the end of the year.
Gillan, 21, has previously had a guest part in the Pompeii-set series four episode, 'The Fires of Pompeii' in which she played a soothsayer predicting hard times ahead.
Piers Wenger, Executive Producer and Head of Drama BBC Wales, said 'We knew Karen was perfect for the role the moment we saw her. She brought an energy and excitement to the part that was just fantastic. And when she auditioned alongside Matt we knew we had something special.'
The fifth series will be one of the most important to the flagship BBC drama since its return to our screens with not only a new Doctor and companion, but a new producer in the shape of Steven Moffat taking over the reigns from Russell T Davies.
Given Moffat's track record as a writer on the series, here at The Medusa Cascade, we're cautiously optimistic on the show's future...
